Kathy Bohannon
Humorist / Conference Speaker
Kathy Bohannon is a conference speaker and freelance writer, focusing on "humor and pleasantries." Some of Kathy's favorite things to speak about are the front porch swing, a walk in the park, a day with the kids ... encouraging people to reflect on the most pleasant times of life.
As a humorist, Kathy enjoys sharing the highlights of life, such as how it was growing up in the 60s with daredevil friends. Audiences enjoy vignettes about Kathy's children, who she says "lovingly drove me nuts when they were growing up, and my husband who is surely in line for the title of saint."
Kathy has served in many venues and for many types of audiences, ranging from school children to senior adults. When speaking to children, Kathy loves to encourage reading as a life-long activity, as well as encourage children to express themselves in creative writing. Her audiences love it when Kathy shares a little-known fact about SpongeBob Squarepants that kids are very surprised and excited to learn!
Kathy's most-requested talks are full of stories from her own life. Audiences quickly discover how crazy life can be with a husband, two kids, and a vast number of animals sharing the same slice of real estate. How about that brief moment while Kathy's son was in kindergarten, when, according to him, he had no father and his mom was "out looking for a man, and she is gonna bring one home this weekend and try him out"? He shared this great vision with none other than the PTA president!
There was also the time when Kathy's husband mistakenly took the cat to work. He noticed a strange noise in the engine each time he turned a corner. It turns out kitty was stuck somewhere between the radiator and the air conditioner and wailed each time the fan belt sheared off an inch or two of fur. Cat and husband arrived safe and sound at the end of the day, though the cat was shaved bald on one side. It took several months for the hair to grow back, and kitty never got near the car again.
Or how about the time Kathy's four-year-old built a ladder to heaven so he could bring his granddaddy back? Or when the state patrolman said he knew Kathy was not a drunk driver because, "Lady, even drunks don't drive that bad."
Kathy enjoys speaking to audiences of all ages and all walks of life. Her wide range of topics are appropriate for church, community, and corporate organizations, and her real-life stories of "humor and pleasantries" resonate with everyone and guarantee a smile every time!
